The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has announced the appointment of Sujata Sharma, an IAS officer of 2006 batch, as the new Government Nominee Director on the Board of Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
Effective from May 11, this strategic move was disclosed through a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Saturday by Indian Oil.
Sujata Sharma, an esteemed IAS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as the Joint Secretary (M&OR) in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG).
Her academic credentials are notable, including a Law degree and a Ph.D. in Botany, underscoring her diverse expertise.
Throughout her illustrious career, Sharma has held multiple key positions, including Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes in Hyderabad and District Collector in Prakasam, Andhra Pradesh. She has also been the Additional Chief Electoral Officer and Special Commissioner of Collegiate Education & Technical Education in Andhra Pradesh, as well as Special Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare.
Beyond state roles, Sharma has significantly contributed at the national level as Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department in the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Managing Director at the Pradeshiya Industrial and Investment Corporation of UP Limited (PICUP).
Her extensive experience in administration and governance is expected to bring valuable insights and strategic direction to the Board of Indian Oil, as the company continues to navigate the complex landscape of the energy sector.
