Telangana: 10 IAS Officers Assigned To Alleviate Drinking Water Scarcity

On April 3rd, the A Revanth Reddy Government of Telangana appointed as many as 10 distinguished officers and tasked them with special roles to monitor the drinking water scarcity in urban and rural areas of some of the districts in the state. The orders were issued three days after CM A Revanth Reddy directed the concerned officials to ensure a proper supply of energy and drinking water to cater to its growing demand.

  • Mr. Patil Prashant Jeevan (2011 batch), the incumbent secretary in the I&CAD department, was asked to monitor the Adilabad and Nirmal districts
  • Mr. Krishna Aditya S (2014 batch), presently posted as director in the Labour department, was mandated to monitor the districts of Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial
  • Mr. R.V. Karnan (2012 batch), posted as director in the Department of Health & Family Welfare, was allotted the districts of Karimnagar, Jagtial, Peddapalli and Rajanna Sircilla
  • Ms. Anita Ramachandran (2004 batch), the incumbent Commissioner in PR&RD, was asked to supervise in the districts of Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhongir and Suryapet
  • Officer A. Sharath (2006 batch), presently serving as secretary in the Department of Tribal Welfare, was asked to monitor the districts of Nizamabad and Kamareddy.

These distinguished bureaucrats shall visit the districts allotted to them, immediately coordinate with the respective district collectors and state-level departments, and brainstorm to alleviate the drinking water distress till the end of July 2024.

CM Reddy has suggested the bureaucrats make use of borewells, open wells, and other sources and directed the collectors to prepare village-wise action plans to reduce the scarcity of drinking water.
