1988 batch retired IAS officer Arvind Kumar has been appointed as the chairman of the UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC).
He is also serving as Advisor on Industries to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In last week of March this year, in a top level appointment, Uttar Pradesh government announced his appointment which will last till 29 February, 2024.
Mr. Kumar was instrumental in guiding the state’s industrial policy and development of the industrial sector in UP. That is why, it is being said, he came into the good books of CM Yogi.
He is also known to have done extensive groundwork when UP organised the Global Investor Summit in February.
Mr. Kumar has also held the positions of Chief Home Secretary and ACS Energy.
He retired from the post of Additional Chief Secretary Industrial Development this year in February. After which he was given responsibility of Advisor. His role is responsible for providing guidance and advice on policy matters related to the development of the state’s industrial sector.
According to the UP government, Mr. Kumar’s appointment will give a significant boost to bring investments to the state as he is known for his administrative skills and has a reputation for getting things done.
He was instrumental in the successful conduct of GIS. It is worth mentioning that more than 35 lakh crore investments had come in this summit.
He has studied in IIT Delhi. He holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering. After this, he has also done M.Tech in Communication and Radar Engineering.
