2011 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, Mr. Abhishek Singh, has resigned from service. He was suspended by the Yogi government in February this year, when the government got to know that he was missing from duty for 82 days without informing. There is talk going on that Mr. Singh is preparing to contest the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.

Mr. Singh’s wife Durga Shakti Nagpal is an IAS officer of 2010 batch and is currently posted as the DM of Banda district of Uttar Pradesh.

Mr. Singh was made an observer by the Election Commission during the Gujarat elections. He posted this information on his social media account along with the photo of the vehicle allotted to him where it was written on the front, “Observer”. After this, on November 18, the Election Commission issued a showcause notice to him and then removed him from the post of observer.

Earlier, interacting with Indian Masterminds, Mr. Singh had said that he will not leave the IAS.

Recently, he had organized Ganesh Mahotsav in his hometown Jaunpur in UP, in which, many film actors from Mumbai had participated. Mr. Singh has worked as an actor in many video albums.

THE INCIDENT

Mr. Abhishek Singh was sent on deputation to the Delhi Government for a period of 3 years in the year 2015. In 2018, the period of deputation was extended for 2 years but he went on medical leave. Hence, he was sent back to his parent cadre by the Delhi Government on 19 March, 2020. Even after this, he did not join UP for a long time.

On October 10, 2022, the appointment department sought the opinion of Mr. Singh, to which no response was received. Meanwhile, on June 30, 2022, the officer agreed to join in UP.

Mr. Singh had not reported to the recruitment department of UP even after his release from Delhi. Considering this act as a violation of Rule 3 of All India Services Conduct Rules 1968, the UP government suspended him with immediate effect and linked him to the Revenue Council.
