New Delhi/Patna: In line with All India Services regulations, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the cadre transfer of IAS officer Nishant Sihara (2022 batch) from Kerala to Bihar, following his marriage to IPS officer Komal Meena (Bihar cadre, 2023 batch).
The Government of India’s policy allows married All India Services officers from different cadres to opt for the same cadre, facilitating family life without disrupting professional commitments. This transfer reflects the Centre’s supportive stance on work-life balance within the civil services.
Who is Nishant Sihara?
Mr Sihara, a promising young officer of the 2022 IAS batch, is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, where he completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Known for his strong analytical skills and academic excellence, he has displayed a keen interest in public infrastructure, governance, and administrative innovation.
During his tenure in Kerala cadre, though brief, he was exposed to the state’s pioneering work in decentralized governance, social welfare programs, and disaster management frameworks. His experiences there are expected to enrich his new administrative role in Bihar, a state actively working on development and reform.
A Strategic Shift to Bihar
Now part of the Bihar cadre, IAS Sihara is expected to contribute with a blend of technical expertise, youth-driven energy, and a modern approach to administration. With Bihar focusing on infrastructure, education, and digital governance, his skill set aligns with the state’s evolving administrative goals.
The civil services community and policy watchers will be closely observing his trajectory as he transitions from Kerala’s governance model to addressing the unique socio-economic landscape of Bihar.
