New Delhi: Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has announced the appointment of Ms. Meera Mohanty, Joint Secretary (P&C) in the Ministry of Defence, as Government Director (Part-time Official Director) on the company’s Board. The appointment comes following an Office Memorandum dated July 14, 2025, issued by the Department of Defence Production, Government of India.
Replacing Nishtha Upadhyay
Ms Mohanty takes over from Ms Nishtha Upadhyay, Joint Secretary (Training) and Finance Manager (Land Systems), as the new Government Director on the Board of BEML, effective 14th July 2025, until further orders.

About Ms. Meera Mohanty
An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2005 batch (Himachal Pradesh cadre), Meera Mohanty currently serves as Joint Secretary (P&C) in the Ministry of Defence, specifically in the Department of Defence Production.
Prior to this role, Ms. Mohanty served in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) as a Joint Secretary, where she played an important role in national-level policy formulation and monitoring.
