Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has made key administrative changes in the management of the Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited (CSMCL), also known as the Beverage Corporation. IAS officer R. Sangeeta has been appointed as the Managing Director of CSMCL, replacing IAS Shyam Dhavade.
Official Order Issued by GAD
The General Administration Department (GAD) issued the official transfer order, stating that IAS R. Sangeeta (Batch 2005) will hold the additional charge of Managing Director, CSMCL, alongside her current roles as Secretary, Excise Department, and Excise Commissioner.
Meanwhile, IAS Shyam Dhavade (Batch 2008) has been relieved of his responsibilities as MD, Beverage Corporation. He will continue to oversee other portfolios, including Village Industries, Handloom Development, the Chhattisgarh Khadi and Village Industries Board, and other assigned duties.
Background of the Officers
IAS R. Sangeeta is a senior officer from the 2005 batch and is known for her expertise in regulatory and administrative roles. Her appointment to CSMCL is seen as a move to strengthen operational control and coordination within the Excise Department.
IAS Shyam Dhavade, who held the charge of the Beverage Corporation, was also managing multiple departments simultaneously. The reshuffle appears aimed at redistributing key roles for focused governance.

Significance of the Move
The CSMCL plays a pivotal role in overseeing the marketing and distribution of alcoholic beverages in Chhattisgarh. With the new assignment, the government likely seeks tighter integration between excise regulation and the operations of the Beverage Corporation.
