Mira Bhayandar, Mumbai: In a surprising move, Radhabinod Aribam Sharma has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) on Thursday. The 2012-batch IAS officer replaces Sanjay Katkar, who is currently undergoing a month-long training program.
Sharma, who has held key administrative roles across multiple significant departments, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Before this appointment, he served as the Joint Metropolitan Commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), overseeing critical projects and operations in the Mumbai Metropolitan area.
His career trajectory includes serving as the Chief Administrator of the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar New Township under CIDCO, as well as holding positions as Deputy Secretary in the Rural Development and Water Conservation Department in Mumbai. Sharma also served as the Collector of Beed district, further strengthening his administrative expertise and leadership abilities.
The appointment comes at a time when the MBMC is focusing on addressing key urban development challenges in the region. Sharma’s diverse experience in government administration is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the city’s governance.
