New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the appointments of Karnataka cadre IAS officer Rajendra KV (IAS:2013:KN) and Kerala cadre IAS officer Jeevan Babu K (IAS:2011:KL) to key positions in the Union Government under the Central Staffing Scheme.
According to separate orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (July 20, 2026), both officers will assume their new assignments after being relieved by their respective state governments.
Rajendra KV Appointed Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs
Karnataka cadre IAS officer Rajendra KV (IAS:2013:KN) has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), New Delhi.
The appointment has been approved under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of four years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Rajendra KV is presently serving as the Managing Director of the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC). He will join the Union Ministry after being formally relieved by the Karnataka Government.
The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs is responsible for formulating and implementing policies relating to urban development, housing, Smart Cities, metro rail projects, urban transport, sanitation and municipal governance across the country.
Jeevan Babu K Appointed Director in Department of Sports
In another appointment cleared by the DoPT, Jeevan Babu K (IAS:2011:KL) has been appointed Director in the Department of Sports, Government of India.
His appointment has also been made under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Jeevan Babu K is currently serving as Special Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of Kerala. He will assume his new role in New Delhi after being relieved by the state government.
The Department of Sports, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is responsible for promoting sports infrastructure, implementing athlete development programmes, supporting national sports federations and advancing India’s sporting ecosystem.
Appointments Under Central Staffing Scheme
The appointments of both officers form part of the Centre’s regular administrative process under the Central Staffing Scheme, through which officers from the All India Services are deputed to various ministries and departments of the Government of India.
While Rajendra KV will contribute to urban governance and housing policy at the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Jeevan Babu K will oversee key responsibilities in the Department of Sports, bringing his administrative experience from Kerala to the Union Government.
