New Delhi: Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Rajendra Ratnoo has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Cooperation, according to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved his appointment on Monday. Ratnoo, a 2001-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been selected for the post under the Central Staffing Scheme.
His tenure as Joint Secretary will be for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Experienced Bureaucrat to Join Ministry Focused on Strengthening Cooperatives
Rajendra Ratnoo brings with him diverse administrative experience, having served in various senior roles at both the state and central levels. His appointment comes at a critical time as the Ministry of Cooperation, established in 2021, continues to focus on revitalizing India’s cooperative movement, promoting self-reliant rural economies, and enhancing governance in cooperative institutions.
His inclusion is expected to add momentum to ongoing policy and implementation frameworks designed to empower Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), multipurpose cooperatives, and credit cooperatives across the country.
