New Delhi: The Central Government on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) approved the appointments of three senior officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Forest Service (IFoS), and Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) to important positions under the Central Staffing Scheme and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The appointments, approved by the competent authority through separate orders, include postings in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
Satovisha Samajdar Appointed Director in NHRC
Satovisha Samajdar (IFoS:2010:Chhattisgarh) has been appointed as Director in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the notification, she has been appointed for a five-year tenure from the date she assumes charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
An officer of the 2010 batch of the Chhattisgarh cadre, Samajdar will now serve in one of the country’s premier statutory human rights institutions, which is responsible for safeguarding and promoting human rights across India.
Karthika J Kumar Joins SSB as IFA
Karthika J Kumar (ICAS:2014) has been appointed as Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA) at the Deputy Secretary level in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
She has been selected under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Karthika J Kumar was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Expenditure. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has directed that she be relieved of her present duties immediately to enable her to join her new assignment in the SSB.
As Integrated Financial Advisor, she will oversee financial management, budgeting, expenditure control and related financial advisory functions within the border guarding force.
IAS Rakesh Kumar Prajapati Appointed Director in DPIIT
In another significant appointment, Rakesh Kumar Prajapati (IAS:2012:Himachal Pradesh) has been appointed as Director in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) approved his appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
A 2012-batch Himachal Pradesh cadre IAS officer, Prajapati is currently serving as Director, Tourism & Civil Aviation in the Himachal Pradesh Government. He will take up his new assignment after being relieved by the state government.
At DPIIT, he is expected to contribute to policy formulation and implementation relating to industrial development, investment promotion, ease of doing business, startup initiatives and internal trade reforms.
Strengthening Key Institutions
The latest appointments reinforce staffing in three important institutions of the Union Government.
- NHRC gains an experienced IFoS officer for human rights administration.
- SSB strengthens its financial management with an ICAS officer at the Deputy Secretary level.
- DPIIT gets an experienced IAS officer to support industrial and investment policy initiatives.
The appointments take effect from the dates on which the respective officers assume charge of their new assignments.
