New Delhi: Sardar Jagar Singh, a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Odisha cadre, 1976 batch, passed away yesterday at the age of 75. He had been briefly ill and was hospitalized for a few days prior to his demise.
Born on April 5, 1950, Mr. Singh was widely respected in the bureaucratic community for his long and dedicated service to the state of Odisha. “He was a highly respected member of the bureaucracy, known for his long and dedicated service to the state,” said Jayant Kumar Dev, his batchmate and close friend. He is survived by his wife and son.
Illustrious Career in Public Administration
A postgraduate from Panjab University, Chandigarh, Sardar Jagar Singh joined the IAS in 1976 and served in various key capacities until his retirement in 2010. His tenure was marked by integrity, professionalism, and a deep commitment to public welfare, earning him admiration across government circles.
Even after retirement, he remained an active voice on public issues, frequently sharing insights on governance and social matters, contributing significantly to policy discussions and public debates.
Legacy and Condolences
The news of his demise has evoked widespread condolences from former colleagues, political leaders, and civil society members, all of whom remember his invaluable contributions to the administration of Odisha.
