New Delhi: In a symbolic celebration of global collaboration and mutual trust, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) commemorated its historic partnership with British Airways during the IATA Aviation Energy Forum held recently in Mexico. British Airways—one of Europe’s largest international carriers and the United Kingdom’s flagship airline—shares a legacy with BPCL that stretches back to the 1950s. The partnership began when Burmah Shell, BPCL’s predecessor, supplied Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to British Airways’ antecedent airlines, BOAC and BEA.
This supply relationship strengthened over the decades and continued seamlessly after the two British carriers merged in 1974 to form British Airways.
