New Delhi/Mussoorie: IAS officer Shelesh Nawal (IAS: 2010, Maharashtra cadre), currently serving as Deputy Director (Senior) at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent Maharashtra cadre. The move has been approved to enable him to avail promotion-related benefits.

The decision was formalised through an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following approval by the competent authority.

DoPT Order and Reason for Repatriation

According to the DoPT order, the Training Division of the Department of Personnel and Training proposed the premature repatriation of Shelesh Nawal, which has now been approved. The repatriation has been carried out specifically to allow the officer to benefit from promotion opportunities in his parent cadre.

Tenure at LBSNAA

Shelesh Nawal joined LBSNAA as Deputy Director on September 28, 2021, on a four-year central deputation tenure, which was originally scheduled to end on September 27, 2025.

In August 2025, his tenure was extended by one year up to September 27, 2026, and he was also re-designated from Deputy Secretary level to Senior Director level within the academy. However, before completion of the extended tenure, the present order has resulted in his premature repatriation.
