New Delhi: IDAS officer Ashish Yadav (2012 batch) has been appointed as Director in the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) under the Department of Expenditure. The appointment, approved by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday, is on a deputation basis under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Co-Terminus Tenure With 8th CPC
Mr Yadav’s tenure as Director will be co-terminus with the 8th CPC, which was formally constituted on November 3, 2025. The assignment is extendable up to his admissible tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The 8th CPC, chaired by Justice (Retd.) Ranjana Prakash Desai, is mandated to overhaul the salary, allowances, and pension structures for over 1 crore central government employees and retirees. Recommendations are expected within 18 months, targeting mid-2027 for report delivery. The new pay scales have an official reference date of January 1, 2026, with actual financial rollout projected for late 2027 or early 2028.
Projected Pay Revisions
Current projections indicate significant changes in the pay structure:
- Fitment factor: Expected between 1.83 and 2.86
- Minimum basic pay: Could rise from ₹18,000 to approximately ₹34,500–₹51,480
- Dearness Allowance (DA): Currently around 60%, likely to be merged into the new basic pay matrix
- Retrospective arrears: Any delays in implementation will be paid as arrears
