Fertiliser major IFFCO, known for introducing nano liquid urea and nano liquid DAP, has developed a new nano NPK nutrient and is seeking government approval for its market launch. According to IFFCO Managing Director Mr. U S Awasthi, the cooperative plans to produce the nano NPK product, available in granule form, at its Kandla unit and sell it at Rs 950 for a 5 kg bag. This innovation aims to significantly reduce the consumption of conventional urea and DAP.
Since 2017, IFFCO has invested approximately Rs. 2,000 crore in developing and promoting its nano products, including the launch of Nano Liquid Urea in 2021 and Nano Liquid DAP in 2023. These products, priced at Rs. 240 and Rs. 600 per 500 ml bottle, respectively, are highly efficient, with one bottle equivalent to a 45-50 kg bag of their conventional counterparts. The cooperative has also committed Rs. 200 crore annually to farmer awareness and promotional efforts. IFFCO’s annual production capacities for these nano fertilisers stand at 16 crore bottles for nano urea and 7 crore bottles for nano DAP, with expectations of widespread farmer adoption in the coming years.
