The 1989 batch senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Saurabh Kumar has been made the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Belgium. He will also be accredited as Ambassador of India to the European Union.
He is currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
Mr Kumar is renowned Indian diplomat and has help some important posts from ministry to ambassadors. He has served as Ambassador of India to Myanmar and to the Islamic Republic of Iran. He is fluent in English, Hindi, and has knowledge of Mandarin Chinese.
He hails from Lucknow, India. He completed his schooling from La Martinière College, Lucknow. An engineer by training, he obtained his B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and M.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
After joining IFS in 1989, his first post was to the Commission of India in Hong Kong in 1991.
