New Delhi: Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC), will embark on a three-day visit to Australia from July 26 to 28 to witness the 11th edition of Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 (TS25), one of the Indo-Pacific’s largest and most significant multilateral defence exercises.
India Strengthens Role in Regional Defence Diplomacy
Led by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the United States Armed Forces, TS25 is a premier joint training initiative that features participation from 19 countries. The exercise brings together a diverse array of regional and global partners, reflecting a shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
India’s participation in TS25 has grown more robust with each edition. While Indian Armed Forces had observer roles in 2021 and 2023, this year six officers are actively embedded as Staff Planners. They are contributing at various levels of Joint Operations Planning, Control, Safety, and Logistics, marking a significant leap in India’s operational integration in multinational frameworks.

Enhancing Interoperability and Strategic Cooperation
During his visit, Air Marshal Dixit will engage with senior military leaders from Australia and other participating nations. He will also observe several joint training activities designed to simulate real-world operations across multiple domains.
The exercise includes complex live-fire drills, amphibious maneuvers, integrated field training, and multi-domain operational scenarios involving air, land, maritime, space, and cyber warfare elements. These drills aim to sharpen interoperability among partner forces while preparing them for coordinated responses to potential future threats.
India’s Growing Footprint in Global Military Collaboration
Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 highlights India’s evolving defence diplomacy and its proactive stance in collaborative security arrangements. The engagement underscores New Delhi’s commitment to an open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific, and positions the Indian Armed Forces as a dependable contributor to regional and global stability.
By participating at a deeper operational level, India reinforces its strategic resolve to enhance readiness and build trust with partner nations through consistent and meaningful military engagements.
