New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved key senior postings in the Indian Police Service, marking significant leadership changes in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Anand Swaroop Takes Charge as Special Secretary (Internal Security)
The ACC has appointed Anand Swaroop (IPS: 1992, UP cadre), previously serving as Director General (Investigation) at the NHRC, as the new Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs. He replaces Praveen Vashista (IPS: 1991, BH cadre).
Swaroop’s tenure will extend until his superannuation on 31 August 2029, commencing from the date he assumes charge. According to the official order, his appointment will continue either until his retirement or until further instructions from the government.

Chandra will take over from Anand Swaroop, continuing the NHRC’s mission to strengthen investigative capabilities.
