2014 batch IPS officer Ms. Monika (Himachal Pradesh cadre), recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been selected for the position of Deputy Secretary in the Department of Rural Development, Delhi. As per an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, Ms. Monika will serve in this capacity for a period of four years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ms. Monika’s appointment is part of the ongoing central staffing scheme and is seen as an important step in her career within the Indian Police Service, as she moves from state-level responsibilities to a central government post.
In a separate announcement, Mr. Amit Kumar (IOFS: 2012), who was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Defence Production, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSDE), Delhi. According to an order issued by the DoPT on Thursday, Mr. Kumar’s appointment has been approved for a combined tenure of four years, which includes his time on both ex-cadre and central staffing scheme posts. His tenure will end on 26th April 2026.
Both appointments reflect the continued strengthening of the central government’s administrative framework, as skilled officers from various services are deployed to key positions to support the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.
