Amidst a recent development, the government of Assam mandated a senior IPS officer, Partha Sarathi Mahanta (2006 batch), to take additional charge as the Inspector General of Police (Traffic and Road Safety) due to an increased demand for more coordinated and dynamic traffic management system in the state.
A week ago, Officer Mahanta was promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP) from his previous designation of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) following an official order from the home department of the Government of Assam. Officer Mahanta is presently posted as the DIGP (Admn), Assam, along with DIGP (STF) and DIG (CWR).
