The Bihar government, on the eve of Diwali, announced the transfer of several police officials, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and an IPS officer. The transfer order entails the name of two IPS officers and 11 other police personnel.

IPS Bhanu Pratap Singh (2021 batch), last posted as the Municipal Assistant Superintendent in Muzaffarpur, has been appointed as the Danapur Sub-Divisional Police Officer-1. Meanwhile, IPS Deeksha Bhaware (2021 batch), who was serving as the Danapur Sub-Divisional Police Officer, will now take on the role of Assistant Superintendent of Police for the Crime Investigation Department in Patna.

Mr. Pushkar Kumar, a resident of Vaishali who was promoted from police inspector in 2016, has been assigned as Deputy Superintendent of Police for the Crime Investigation Department. He was formerly the Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer-1 in Purnia.

Action has been recommended against Officer Pushkar Kumar for negligence related to the Tanishq Jewellery showroom robbery case, as highlighted by outgoing IG of Purnia, IPS Shivdeep Wamanrao Lande (2006 batch). In his correspondence, the IG expressed frustration that, two months post-robbery, the police had only managed to recover a diamond ring, describing the recovery efforts as inadequate.

Ex-IPS Lande had previously ordered the suspension of several police personnel, including the Assistant Treasurer SHO, citing the suspicious role of Sadar DSP Mr. Pushkar Kumar. Mr. Lande noted that Officer Kumar had no prior knowledge of the incident and lacked control over his subordinate officers. Consequently, he recommended action against Mr. Pushkar Kumar in a letter to headquarters.

Additionally, Mr. Sushil Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police for Law and Order in Nalanda, has been reassigned as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer for Sheohar. Mr. Pankaj Kumar Sharma, presently serving as Deputy Superintendent in the Special Branch of Patna, has been appointed as Sub-Divisional Police Officer-1 of Purnia Sadar. Officer Pankaj, originally from Begusarai district, is part of the 53rd-55th BPSC batch. Mr. Anil Kumar, a 2018 BPSC batch officer from Saran, has been promoted to Superintendent of Police for BVS in Patna-1, having previously served as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer in Sheohar.
