DGP’s demand for more IPS officials in the Department

DGP D Gautam Sawang met with Additional Secretary of DoPT to discuss the shortage of IPS officers in the state and to demand the allocation of more officers in the state.

On Monday, 23rd November 2020, the Director-General of Police, D Gautam Sawang met with the Additional Secretary of Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in New Delhi in order to address the issue of lack of IPS officers in the state and with an appeal to allocate more of them. The DGP informed the Secretary that the state did not receive enough number of IPS officers post bifurcation, thereby leading to a vacancy of several senior rank posts.

The police department needs more IPS officials as the state heads towards the formation of new district police units. According to sources, Mr. Sawang was assured from the Centre about allotting a sufficient number of IPS officers soon.
