Mr. Yogendra Meena has resigned from the Indian Forest Service (IFS) following his selection to the Indian Police Service (IPS) through the Civil Services Exam 2023 results. Similarly, Ms. Kirti Yadav has also stepped down from the IFS after being selected for the IPS in the same examination.
The Indian Forest Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) are two of the premier All India Services in the country, recruited through the Civil Services Examination conducted annually by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). UPSC recruits IFS officers via a separate examination — the UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination. While the IFS focuses on the management, conservation, and sustainable development of forests and wildlife, the IPS is dedicated to maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and addressing internal security challenges.
