The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced the appointment of two IPS officers to key roles in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on deputation for a period of five years.
Dr. Navneet Sharma (2015-batch, Kerala cadre):
Dr. Sharma has been appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the NIA. His deputation will last for five years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
Mr. Sakthi Ganesan S (2013-batch, Tamil Nadu cadre):
Mr. Ganesan has also been appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the NIA under similar terms. His deputation is valid for five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders.
Both appointments reflect the government’s focus on strengthening the NIA’s operational capacity by inducting experienced officers from the Indian Police Service. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is India’s premier counter-terrorism agency, established in 2009 under the NIA Act. It is tasked with investigating and prosecuting offenses related to terrorism, national security, and other serious crimes.
