Meghalaya: 4 MPS Officers, Including Maxwel Syiem, Promoted to IPS

As per a notification released on February 15, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced the promotion of four Meghalaya Police Service (MPS) personnel to the Indian Police Service (IPS). The issued notification reads that the promotions have been actualised under the “provisions contained in sub-regulation (3) of Regulation 7 of the Indian Police Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955.”

These four elevated officers are – Mr. Goldenbert Dean Kharwanlang, Mr. Maxwel Balahun Syiem, Mr. Lakador Syiem, and Mr. Bobby Sengjrang Momin.

The Selection Committee, in one of its meetings held in December 2023, had finalised the Select List. On February 12, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) deliberated on the list and approved it. Thus, the four MPS officers have been instructed to occupy four substantive vacancies in the Assam-Meghalaya Joint Cadre (Meghalaya Segment) of the Indian Police Service.
