With effect from January 16, 2024, Anand Mishra, a prominent member of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and the Superintendent of Police in Lakhimpur, Assam, will formally retired from service.
According to sources, Mr. Mishra is considering running for elections in the 2018 Lok Sabha elections from the Bihar constituency of Buxar.
He sent his resignation letter to the chief secretary, in which he stated his intention to leave the IPS, claiming a desire for a life of liberty and autonomy. In the letter, he stated, “This is to submit my unconditional resignation from the IPS to pursue a life of freedom and independence that I want to realize through various social services and other means that are beyond the mandate of IPS.”
Anand Mishra is a well-known personality in Assam who is renowned for his devotion to upholding law and order.
