Shortly after removing IPS Rajeev Kumar from the DGP post in West Bengal as per the Election Commission directive, another senior IPS officer, Mr. Vivek Sahay, was appointed to the top post.
This development follows the Election Commission of India’s instruction to the West Bengal Chief Secretary to provide a list of three eligible officers as a replacement for Mr. Rajeev Kumar, who was removed from his position to cater to the ECI’s efforts to maintain a level playing field and ensure the integrity of the electoral process before the Lok Sabha polls.
Mr. Vivek Sahay is a 1988-batch IPS officer, who previously served as the Director General (DG), Provisioning and the Director General of Home Guards.
