Chandigarh: The Punjab government has appointed Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Praveen Kumar (PK) Sinha as the new head of the state police’s intelligence department. The announcement was made on Monday, marking a significant change in the leadership of the department.
Praveen Kumar Sinha, a 1994-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, takes over from ADGP R K Jaiswal, whose new posting order will be issued later. Sinha, who is currently holding the charge of ADGP-NRI, will continue to oversee that position in addition to his new role in the intelligence department.
R K Jaiswal, who was appointed as ADGP Intelligence in November 2023, will be transferred to a new position, as per the government’s instructions.
This reshuffling is part of the Punjab government’s efforts to streamline operations and further strengthen the state’s law enforcement and intelligence framework. Praveen Kumar Sinha’s experience and expertise in the police force are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the intelligence department moving forward.
