IPS officer Pradeep Gupta, a 2010 batch officer, has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons, Kanpur Zone. The Uttar Pradesh government issued a fresh transfer order assigning him this key responsibility. He has been directed to assume charge immediately and report his joining to the government.
The appointment order was issued by Special Secretary Madan Mohan, stating that Pradeep Gupta, who was serving as DIG, Prisons Administration and Reform Services, Lucknow, has now been transferred and posted as DIG Prisons, Kanpur Zone.
Interestingly, Pradeep Gupta’s transfer comes just weeks after he was moved from DIG Telecommunications to DIG Prisons Administration in Lucknow. Now, with this latest reshuffle, he will take charge of the prison administration in Kanpur.
Pradeep Gupta began his career in the Uttar Pradesh Police in 1994 and served in various capacities across the state. In recognition of his work, he was promoted to IPS in 2010. He attained selection grade in 2023 and was promoted to DIG rank on January 1, 2024.
A native of Lucknow, Pradeep Gupta was born on October 12, 1966, in the family of Krishna Kumar Gupta. He holds a postgraduate degree in Physics and will now be responsible for overseeing the functioning and reforms of prisons in the Kanpur Zone.
