Senior IPS Sunil Kumar Gautam (1989 batch) recently presented the first edition of his book ‘Nyaya Mahakavya’ to Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena at an event at Raj Niwas. Officer Gautam handed out the book during a ceremony which was attended by Justice Poonam Bamba, the incumbent Chairperson of the Police Complaints Authority, Mr. Sanjay Arora (1988 batch IPS officer), the present Delhi Police Commissioner, other senior officers of Delhi Police and senior officers of Raj Niwas.
‘Nyaya Mahakavya’ is a book that explains the basic concept of laws not only to policemen, advocates, judicial officers and law students but also to laypersons in colloquial Hindi. The paperback also includes information on the new laws implemented from July 1st, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
Upon receiving the book, LG Saxena commented on how using poetic style and pictures has made the subject more interesting, adding that the book should be available in every household to keep them informed of the law. This book is Officer Gautam’s second creation that makes legal jargon more accessible and comprehensible for the commoners after penning the 2016 publication “Samvidhan Kavya,” a poet’s rendition of the Indian Constitution!
