New Delhi Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced the appointment of Manoj Kumar Sharma as the Director (Catering Services) with additional charge, effective August 1, 2025. The move was approved by the IRCTC Board and disclosed through a regulatory filing.

Sharma, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer from the 1995 batch, is currently serving as Officer on Special Duty (Corporate Services). He will now shoulder the responsibilities of Director (Catering Services) alongside his current role.

Seasoned Railway Professional

With a rich career spanning over 28 years in the Indian Railways, Sharma has held significant roles across four railway zones:

  • Northern Railway (NR)
  • North Eastern Railway (NER)
  • North Frontier Railway (NFR)
  • South East Central Railway (SECR)

His areas of expertise include marketing, business development, operations, planning, transportation, vigilance, safety, IT, and project development.

Since joining IRCTC in March 2024 as Group General Manager (North Zone), Sharma has played a vital role in enhancing corporate and catering services.

Regulatory Compliance and Board Composition

IRCTC confirmed that Sharma holds no equity stake in the company and is not related to any other Director or Key Managerial Personnel (KMP). He is also not debarred from holding directorship by SEBI or any other statutory body.

Following this appointment, the IRCTC Board comprises:

  • Sanjay Kumar Jain – Chairman & Managing Director
  • Sudhir Kumar – Director (Finance), with additional charge
  • Manoj Kumar Sharma – Director (Catering Services), with additional charge
  • Rahul Himalian – Director (Tourism & Marketing)
  • Two Government Nominee Directors
  • Three Independent Directors

Looking Ahead

As the catering division remains a core pillar of IRCTC’s service portfolio, Sharma’s leadership is expected to contribute to operational stability and future strategy. His experience across key functional areas and zones positions him to lead IRCTC’s catering services through a phase of modernization and expansion.

(IRCTC) is a public sector undertaking (PSU) and a ‘Navratna’ listed company under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, responsible for providing online railway ticketing, catering services, packaged drinking water, and tourism promotion for Indian Railways. Established on September 27, 1999, it was originally fully owned by the Government of India and was listed on the National Stock Exchange in 2019 after the government reduced its ownership.
