Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mr Mritunjaya Sharma, IRS (IT:2009), as the Private Secretary to the President of India, Ms. Droupadi Murmu. This follows the curtailment of his tenure as Officer on Special Duty to the President of India.
Mr Sharma, who will assume the role at the level of Director, will be paid at level 13 of the pay matrix. His appointment is for a period of up to January 13, 2027, the remaining period of his five-year central deputation tenure. The appointment is extendable on a co-terminus basis, subject to cadre clearance or until further orders. This position is one of the co-terminus posts of Private Secretary created during the current presidency.
Additionally, the committee has allowed Ms. Sampada Mehta Suresh, IAS (MH:2009), to draw pay and allowances against an equivalent vacant post in the President’s Secretariat during her leave period. This decision is part of a series of administrative actions aimed at streamlining the functioning of the President’s Secretariat.
