Strict Timelines for Case Disposal
According to the directive issued by the Police Headquarters, all pending cases must be submitted to the concerned courts within 60 days, and in some cases, within 90 days of FIR registration.
The entire process will be monitored and executed online through the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS).
This digital approach is designed to increase transparency, reduce delays, and maintain accountability across police departments.
Officers Leading the Charge
The five senior IPS officers assigned to this initiative include:
- IG Ranchi Range Mr. Manoj Kaushik (2001 batch) overseeing the Ranchi Range.
- DIG Mr. Y.S. Ramesh (2010 batch) responsible for the Santhal Pargana and Hazaribagh Range.
- DIG Mr. Kartik S managing the Coal Area Bokaro Range.
- DIG Mr. Chandan Jha (2011 batch) in charge of the Kolhan Range.
- SP Mr. Ehtesham Waquarib (2015 batch) leading the Palamu Range.

Strengthening Law Enforcement and Accountability
By assigning dedicated senior officials to monitor pending cases, Jharkhand aims to create a more responsive and accountable police system.
The move not only addresses delays in the justice delivery process but also reinforces public trust in law enforcement agencies.
Officials believe that timely case disposal will act as a deterrent to crime and contribute to overall social stability and security in the state.
Digitization and Transparency in Policing
The mandatory use of CCTNS for case monitoring underscores Jharkhand’s focus on leveraging technology for efficient policing.
Digitization ensures real-time tracking, reduces manual errors, and provides courts and citizens with timely updates on case progress.
This modernization aligns with national objectives for digital governance and streamlined criminal justice systems.
