Ranchi: The Jharkhand government is set to sign a collaboration pact with the Jindal Foundation to enhance human resource development, skill building, and education in the state. The draft proposal, presented by Jindal Foundation representatives to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, outlines key areas for cooperation, including research, scholarships, and capacity-building initiatives.

Focus on Research, Public Policy, and Climate Change

The collaboration will prioritise academic and research efforts in public policy, law, and climate change, especially addressing environmental challenges in eastern India. The partnership aims to connect students from the region with high-quality, inclusive education while contributing to research that informs regional and national policy priorities.

Establishment of Centre of Excellence

A Centre of Excellence will be established in collaboration with leading state institutions such as IIT-ISM Dhanbad and BIT Sindri. The centre will focus on innovation in the steel sector, mineral processing, and critical minerals, supporting industrial growth and technological advancements in Jharkhand.

Scholarship Programmes for Marginalised Students

The state government and Jindal Foundation will launch a 50:50 cost-sharing scholarship programme for students from disadvantaged communities, particularly women. Scholarships will support higher education in law, public policy, and management, as well as sports-based scholarships, enabling talented athletes to pursue education without financial barriers.

Capacity-Building Programmes for Administrative Officers

Special training programmes will be organised twice a year for 30 mid-career officers selected through the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. These programmes will strengthen governance capacities and help officers adopt global best practices in administration and service delivery.

Towards Inclusive Education and Industrial Growth

The collaboration between the state government and Jindal Foundation is expected to provide a significant boost to education, research, governance, and industrial development in Jharkhand, benefiting both students and professionals across the state.
