Ranchi: On the occasion of the death anniversary of Marang Gomke Jai Pal Singh Munda, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid heartfelt tribute to the visionary leader and unveiled several initiatives aimed at empowering the youth of the state. CM Soren highlighted that Jai Pal Singh Munda dedicated his life to safeguarding Jharkhand’s identity, dignity, and rights, and emphasized that the government is committed to continuing his legacy.
Expansion of Marang Gomke Pardeshi Scholarship Scheme
The Chief Minister announced a significant expansion of the Marang Gomke Pardeshi Scholarship Scheme, which was previously limited to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. Under the new reforms, the scheme will now also cover students from Scheduled Castes (SC), minority communities, and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
The updated scheme will provide full scholarships to 50 students annually for higher education at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, compared to just 24 students selected under the 2025-26 cycle. The move aims to broaden opportunities and enable more underprivileged students to access global education and exposure.

Launch of Doctoral Scholarship Program with UK Universities
CM Soren also announced the launch of the Marang Gomke Jai Pal Singh Munda Doctoral Scholarship Program, in collaboration with the University of Oxford and St John’s College Oxford. This initiative seeks to strengthen academic collaboration between India and the UK while providing Jharkhand’s youth with opportunities to engage in world-class research and innovation.
During his recent UK visit, CM Soren met with Jharkhand government scholarship students in London. He expressed inspiration at the students’ confidence and fluency in English, noting that they embody the state’s global aspirations.
Construction of Multi-Storey Hostels in Suburban Areas
To further support students, the Jharkhand government has announced plans for state-of-the-art multi-storey hostels in suburban areas for the fiscal year 2026-27. These hostels will offer free accommodation and modern facilities, creating a safe and conducive environment for students to focus on their academic goals.
CM Soren emphasized that these hostels will ensure students have access to a secure and modern living environment, essential for nurturing their talents and academic excellence.
Government’s Vision: Connecting Jharkhand Youth to Global Opportunities
CM Hemant Soren reiterated that the government’s objective is to connect Jharkhand’s youth with global opportunities and make them self-reliant and empowered. He added that these initiatives represent a major step forward in enabling students to realize their dreams and achieve success at both national and international levels.
