In a remarkable achievement for Jharkhand’s healthcare system, Sadar Hospital in Ranchi has been ranked first in the country for its successful implementation of the Ayushman Bharat-Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-MJAY). Among all district hospitals across India, Ranchi Sadar has emerged as the leader in providing free, inclusive, and quality healthcare services under the flagship scheme.
Additionally, the hospital has secured the fourth position nationally in the category of medical colleges and other government institutions, making it one of the top-performing healthcare centres in the country.
Over Two Lakh Patients Benefitted
Ranchi Sadar Hospital has provided free treatment to more than 2 lakh Ayushman cardholders under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. From treating general illnesses to performing complex surgical procedures, patients have been able to access proper healthcare without any financial burden. The scheme has significantly reduced the out-of-pocket medical expenses for lakhs of beneficiaries.
Super Specialty Services Expanded
The hospital has also seen significant infrastructure and service expansion, especially in the domain of super specialty care. Services in cardiology, pulmonology, ophthalmology, urology, and orthopaedic transplants have been made available. This has not only benefited patients from Ranchi but also from surrounding districts and remote rural areas who now have access to advanced medical treatment locally.
Government Lauds the Achievement
Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh (1995-batch IAS officer), Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare, Jharkhand, expressed great satisfaction over this achievement. He said that Ranchi Sadar Hospital’s performance under Ayushman Bharat is commendable at the national level, and it reflects the state’s commitment to public healthcare.
He further added that the state government will now work to replicate the Ranchi model across other districts, aiming to ensure that every citizen in Jharkhand receives quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare.
This recognition has not only brought pride to Jharkhand but has also set a new benchmark for other state-run hospitals in the country.
