Ranchi: In a significant move to promote tourism in the state, the Jharkhand government has announced the formation of the Jharkhand Tourism Development Authority (JTDA). This initiative will ensure that key stakeholders in the tourism sector, including hotels, guides, photographers, and adventure sports operators, must undergo mandatory registration. The state government will present the Jharkhand Tourism Development and Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2025 during the upcoming winter session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, slated for 9 or 10 December 2025. The Cabinet has already approved the bill, which aims to develop world-class facilities at the state’s popular tourist destinations.
Key Provisions of the Proposed Bill
The bill emphasizes the development of Grade-A tourism destinations like Netarhat, Rajrappa, Patratu, and Baidhyanath Dham, aiming to provide world-class amenities and services for tourists. These iconic locations will be upgraded with the latest infrastructure, ensuring a comfortable and enriching experience for visitors.
Furthermore, the bill proposes the creation of the Jharkhand Tourism Development Authority to oversee the development of tourist sites, particularly in non-urban areas. This will enable the state to position itself as a key tourist hub on the national map.
Registration Process for Tourism Operators
Under the proposed amendments, mandatory registration for various tourism service providers will be implemented. This includes hotels, tour guides, photographers, and adventure sports operators, who will be required to register for a three-year term. A registration fee will be determined for these service providers, further ensuring that they meet quality standards and adhere to state regulations.
Aims to Boost National and International Tourism
By developing these tourism sites, the state government aims to create an environment conducive to both domestic and international tourism. The initiative is expected to attract more visitors, enhance the state’s tourism infrastructure, and generate economic opportunities for local communities. The focus will also be on improving civic amenities and providing a safe, enjoyable experience for tourists visiting Jharkhand’s scenic and culturally rich destinations.
Looking Ahead: A Promising Future for Jharkhand Tourism
This progressive move reflects the state government’s vision of positioning Jharkhand as a leading tourism destination in India. The establishment of the Jharkhand Tourism Development Authority and the mandatory registration of tourism operators will ensure a streamlined and well-regulated tourism ecosystem. With its focus on quality services and infrastructure, Jharkhand aims to offer a world-class experience while also fostering growth in the local tourism industry.
