2006 batch senior IPS officer Amit Kumar, originally from the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre (now part of the AGMUT cadre), has been empanelled to the prestigious rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Currently on central deputation, Kumar has held several key positions in Jammu and Kashmir and is recognized for his outstanding contributions to law enforcement. His empanelment is part of a larger promotion of officers within the AGMUT cadre of the 2006 batch, with four officers, including Kumar, being promoted to IG or equivalent posts at the Centre by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
According to an official order from the MHA, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of these officers, which includes both the 2006 batch (initial) and the leftover/deferred officers from the 1997 to 2005 batches. A total of 71 officers have been empanelled to hold IG or equivalent posts at the Centre.
In addition to Amit Kumar, three other officers from the AGMUT cadre of the 2006 batch have also been promoted to the rank of IG. They are Dr. Vikramjit Singh, Jatin Narwal, and Pushpendra Kumar.
This empanelment not only recognizes the officers’ dedication to duty but also reflects the Ministry of Home Affairs’ continued efforts to promote efficient leadership in India’s policing system.
