In two tragic accidents that occurred within a span of 24 hours, a police officer lost his life, and several others were injured in Karnataka.
On Sunday evening, a police vehicle carrying 2023 batch IPS officer Harsh Bardhan, a probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), met with a tragic accident near Kittane in Hassan taluk. The tire of the vehicle reportedly burst, causing the driver, identified as Manjegowda, to lose control. The vehicle then crashed into a house and a tree by the roadside.
Bardhan, who was on his way to Hassan district to assume his new duties at Holenarasipur, suffered severe head injuries in the crash. Despite immediate medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Manjegowda, the driver, sustained minor injuries.
Bardhan had recently completed a four-week training program at the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru before being assigned his post. He originally hails from Madhya Pradesh.
Tumkur District Accident: Three Dead, Over 20 Injured in Bus Crash
In another unfortunate incident, a private bus traveling from Goa to Tumkur met with a fatal accident early on Monday morning. The bus, which was returning from Goa, hit a road divider in the Sira area of Tumkur district at around 4:30 a.m., resulting in the deaths of three passengers and injuries to more than 20 others.
The injured passengers were immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Police officers, led by Superintendent of Police KV Ashok, visited the accident site to assess the situation and offer support to the victims. An investigation is underway, and further details are awaited.
Authorities are continuing to investigate both accidents to determine the exact causes and take necessary actions. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety measures and vigilant driving on Karnataka’s roads.
