Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has promoted two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers — Umesh Kumar and Arun Chakravarthy J. — to the prestigious rank of Director General of Police (DGP).
The promotions were announced on Friday, further strengthening the leadership of the state’s police administration.
Umesh Kumar Appointed DGP, Recruitment
Umesh Kumar, a 1995-batch IPS officer, currently serving as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), has been appointed as the DGP, Recruitment. Known for his disciplined leadership and administrative experience, Kumar will now oversee recruitment and personnel management in the Karnataka Police force.
Arun Chakravarthy Elevated as DGP, Continues at Police Housing Corporation
Arun Chakravarthy J., who has been serving as the ADGP and Chairman & Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation, has been promoted to DGP rank while continuing in his current role.
With this elevation, he will now lead the corporation with full DGP status, which plays a crucial role in improving police infrastructure across Karnataka.
