New Delhi: The Government of India has announced two notable bureaucratic appointments involving senior civil servants to strengthen leadership across crucial ministries.
Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil Gets Additional Charge as Secretary, Labour & Employment
Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, IAS (MP:1994), who now holds the position of Secretary in the Department of Youth Affairs, has been given the additional charge of Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The temporary assignment is from June 24 to July 1, 2025, covering for Ms. Vandana Gurnani, IAS (KN:1991) ,who is on leave.
Dr. Govil is an experienced civil servant, with two Master’s degrees (Economics, Delhi School of Economics; Masters in Public Policy Analysis, Princeton University, USA) and a Ph.D. in Economics (City University of New York Graduate Center, USA) and an established record of working to support inclusive development and with poor communities in Madhya Pradesh, as Principal Secretary.
Her appointment to the Labour Ministry allows us to benefit from her deep domain knowledge and strong policy sensibilities as the government prioritises employment, social security and other national level priorities.
Rahul Raichur Appointed Private Secretary to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi
In a parallel development, Rahul Raichur, IRS (C&IT:2015), has been appointed Private Secretary to Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi. He will serve in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy at the Deputy Secretary level.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment from the date of assuming charge until February 20, 2028, or until further orders. His term will be co-terminus with the Minister’s tenure, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary.
Raichur’s expertise in revenue services and governance is expected to support the Minister in managing the dual portfolios of consumer affairs and renewable energy, both of which are strategic to India’s energy and food security.
