New Delhi/Chhatarpur: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a prize of ₹1 crore for Kranti Goud, a member of the Indian Women’s Cricket World Cup-winning team. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav made the announcement, expressing pride in the young athlete and highlighting her contribution to bringing glory to both the state and the nation.
A Celebration in Bundelkhand
In Ghuwara town, Chhatarpur district, where Kranti hails from, fans had set up a large screen at her family home to watch the World Cup final against South Africa. Fireworks and cheers filled the town as India lifted the trophy. Her father, Munnalal Goud, expressed immense pride, saying, “The daughters of our country have done wonders. She returned as a world champion, fulfilling her promise.”
Overcoming Financial Hardships

The family moved to Delhi for work, but Kranti’s dedication and talent in cricket eventually led her to the Indian national team. Her primary coach, Rajkumar Sen, said, “We were confident that Kranti would perform brilliantly. Bundelkhand is proud of her achievement.”
Kranti’s sister, Jiya, added, “People have been congratulating us since midnight. It was our dream that the team would win the World Cup.”
Recognition and Reward
The ₹1 crore prize reflects the state government’s commitment to recognizing sports talent and inspiring young athletes. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, “We are proud of Kranti and her achievements. Our government stands with talented youth who bring honor to the nation.”
