Dehradun: In a significant development for Uttarakhand‘s infrastructure, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved ₹57 crore for the construction of the Singtali Motor Bridge, which will connect the Garhwal and Kumaon regions. This move addresses a long-standing demand of the local population and is expected to strengthen road connectivity across the state.
Fulfilling a Key Announcement
This approval aligns with the Chief Minister’s earlier commitment made during his visit to the Yamkeshwar constituency in Pauri district. On Tuesday, the state administration issued official orders through Principal Secretary Loben, giving the green light for the project’s implementation.
Project Details: 150-Meter Bridge Over the Ganga
The Singtali Bridge will be constructed at kilometer 01 of the Kaudiyala–Byasghat Motor Road, spanning the Ganga River. The total length of the bridge will be 150 meters, and it will be built at an estimated cost of ₹57.0525 crore. The proposal was fast-tracked and cleared by the high-level expenditure committee headed by the Chief Secretary, following special instructions from the Chief Minister.
Administrative Hurdles Cleared
With the financial and administrative approval now in place, all previous obstacles to construction have been removed. This paves the way for immediate commencement of the project, which had been delayed for years despite repeated demands.
Expected Impact on Connectivity
Once completed, the Singtali Bridge will greatly enhance road access between Garhwal and Kumaon, reduce travel time, and improve the movement of people and goods. It will also serve as a crucial link during emergencies and disaster response efforts in the hilly terrain of Uttarakhand.
Timely Completion a Priority
The government has assured that construction will begin soon and the project will be completed within a set timeframe. Authorities are focused on fast-tracking the process to ensure the bridge serves the region at the earliest.
