The Home Department of Madhya Pradesh has transferred seven IPS officers, including the Commissioner of Indore. The transfer list also includes the names of the Superintendents of Police (SP) from three districts: Jabalpur, Dewas, and Barwani. Omprakash Srivastava, Secretary of the Home Department, confirmed that seven IPS officers have been transferred.

As part of the reshuffle, Umesh Joga, who was serving as Additional Transport Commissioner, has been appointed as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Ujjain Zone. Santosh Kumar Singh, the Inspector General (IG) of Ujjain Zone, has been made the new Commissioner of Police in Indore. The current Indore Commissioner, Rakesh Gupta, has been assigned a new role as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister.

The SP of Jabalpur, Aditya Pratap Singh, has been transferred to Police Headquarters in Bhopal as Assistant Inspector General of Police. He will be replaced by Sampat Upadhyay, who was previously the SP of Dewas. Meanwhile, Puneet Gehlot, the SP of Barwani, will take over as the SP of Dewas. In Barwani, Jagdish Dabar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Indore, has been appointed as the new SP.

In Indore, IPS officer Ankit Soni, who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police for Security, has been temporarily assigned the additional responsibility of Deputy Commissioner of Police for Urban areas. Police sources suggest that another transfer list involving more IPS officers may be released in the coming days.

It is noteworthy that on September 9, the Madhya Pradesh government had also issued transfer orders for 29 officials. This included 2018-batch officer Sandeep Kerkatta, who was appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, and 2009-batch IAS officer Amit Tomar, who was made Additional Secretary in the Personnel and General Administration Department. Several Assistant Collectors and District Panchayat CEOs were also transferred during that reshuffle.
