CM Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that the safety of life and property remains the government’s highest priority in the wake of widespread flooding due to continuous heavy rainfall across Madhya Pradesh. He stated that ensuring the safe evacuation of citizens from affected areas is the top concern of the administration.
Review at State Command Center
Dr. Yadav visited the Disaster Management Room at the Home Guard Headquarters in Bhopal on Wednesday, where he conducted a detailed review of the situation. He interacted with senior officials including Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain, ACS Home Mr. J.N. Kansotia, DGP Mr. Kailash Makwana, and others. The Chief Minister was briefed that over 2,900 people had been affected across several districts, with most already evacuated to safety.
Live Monitoring and Interaction with Victims
The Chief Minister monitored live rescue operations and interacted directly with disaster response teams deployed in flood-affected districts. He also spoke to citizens rescued from submerged areas, reassuring them that the state government would provide full compensation for damages to homes, property, crops, and livestock. “The government is with you at every step,” he said.
Instructions for District Administration
Dr. Yadav directed all District Collectors to remain on high alert and ensure all disaster response arrangements are fully operational. He emphasized the need for immediate evacuation in emergency situations and instructed officials to assess damage promptly once floodwaters recede. Relief measures must be fast-tracked, he added.
Recognition for Public Heroes
Acknowledging the efforts of civil society, the Chief Minister announced that individuals who assisted in rescuing flood victims would be honoured on August 15 and other official occasions. He directed officials to prepare a list of such people, saying that “those who help save lives must be recognised and rewarded.”
Preparedness for Air Rescue Operations
Dr. Yadav assured that the government is fully equipped to deal with any eventuality. In cases where boat evacuation is not feasible, helicopter airlifts will be deployed to rescue stranded individuals. He urged rescue teams to work with a sense of public service and dedication.
Appeal for Public Vigilance
The Chief Minister appealed to citizens to stay cautious until the weather stabilises. People were advised to avoid crossing flooded rivers, using damaged bridges, or coming in contact with exposed electrical wires. Those living in kutcha houses were especially urged to remain vigilant due to potential collapse risks.
Relief Arrangements for Affected Citizens
Dr. Yadav directed that relief camps provide safe shelter, clean drinking water, food, medicines, and other essential supplies to all affected people. He said that no flood victim should be left helpless and all possible help should be extended immediately.
Meteorological Warnings and District-Level Response
The Chief Minister reviewed alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department, which predicted extremely heavy rainfall in districts like Narmadapuram, Guna, Hasda, and Raisen. Dr. Yadav instructed collectors to activate local alert systems and dispatch rescue teams swiftly upon receiving flood reports.
State Government’s Assurance
Reiterating the government’s full preparedness, Dr. Yadav said, “The administration, army, and disaster teams are working together. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure every citizen’s safety.” He added that schools may be closed in affected districts as needed to prevent any untoward incident.
