New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on January 31, 2026, to brief him on the state government’s development initiatives. The meeting focused on programmes under the Kisan Kalyan Varsh (Farmer Welfare Year) and other welfare schemes aimed at improving the livelihoods of farmers, women, youth, and the economically disadvantaged.

CM Yadav emphasised that Madhya Pradesh is implementing integrated development initiatives across sixteen government departments, ensuring coordinated action in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, horticulture, cooperatives, and allied sectors.

Focus on Farmers: ‘Kisan Kalyan Varsh’

The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s commitment to farmer welfare, noting that 2026 is being observed as the ‘Year for Farmers’ Welfare’ in Madhya Pradesh.

• Initiatives aim to increase agricultural production, reduce input costs, improve marketing, and enhance farmer income.

• CM Yadav stated, “The government’s objective is not limited to increasing production, but also to enhancing farmers’ income and reducing agricultural input costs through practical and effective measures.”

• The integrated approach across 16 departments demonstrates a holistic effort to strengthen rural livelihoods and agricultural sustainability.

Agricultural Growth and Policy Success

Madhya Pradesh’s agricultural growth rate has reached 16 percent, reflecting the success of policy interventions and targeted welfare measures.

• The government is prioritizing sustainable farming, mechanization, improved irrigation, and technology adoption.

• Financial and technical support is being extended to ensure that farmers benefit not just from higher production but also from better profitability and reduced costs.

Broader Welfare Initiatives

CM Yadav highlighted that the government’s focus extends beyond agriculture to include:

• Women’s empowerment programmes

• Youth skill development and employment initiatives

• Support for economically weaker sections

He stressed that development plans are designed to be inclusive, multi-sectoral, and citizen-focused, ensuring comprehensive improvement in rural and urban livelihoods.

Prime Minister Modi Praises State Initiatives

Following the meeting, CM Yadav told reporters, “I am happy that the Prime Minister has blessed our work to move forward, and its results will also be good in the future.”
