In what could be a significant administrative reshuffle in Madhya Pradesh, the state government is reportedly finalizing a new transfer list of IAS officers, with a particular focus on district collectors and chief executive officers of Zila Panchayats. The list, which was temporarily withheld due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhar, is now being revisited and expected to be released soon.
Collectors with Extended Tenures Likely to Be Shifted
As per official sources, the reshuffle will particularly affect collectors who have remained posted in the same district for a long duration. Among the officers likely to be transferred is Mr. Priyank Mishra, a 2013-batch IAS officer who currently serves as the Collector of Dhar. His possible transfer gains significance considering the high-profile nature of the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the region.
Changes Also Expected in Zila Panchayat CEOs
The proposed reshuffle may also impact chief executive officers of district Panchayats, especially in districts where developmental progress has slowed or where field-level implementation of schemes is lacking. The government appears to be realigning key administrative positions to improve grassroots governance.
Performance-Based Transfers to Improve Governance Outcomes
According to sources, performance will be a major criterion in this reshuffle. Officers who have not demonstrated satisfactory results or have been unable to meet the government’s expectations in flagship program execution may be replaced. This is seen as part of a larger push towards accountability and efficiency in district-level administration.
Departments and Senior Posts May Also See Changes
Beyond district-level changes, the reshuffle is also expected to impact some Principal Secretaries and Heads of Departments (HoDs). Adjustments in responsibilities at the senior-most levels indicate the government’s broader intent to realign its bureaucratic machinery in tune with evolving policy priorities.
Final Call with Chief Minister After List Prepared by Chief Secretary
The draft of the transfer list has reportedly been prepared by Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer. However, the final decision will be taken by Chief Minister Mr. Mohan Yadav, who is expected to review the recommendations and give the green signal shortly.
