Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has declared 2026 as ‘Kisan Kalyan Varsh’ (Year of Farmer Welfare), aiming to transform agriculture through technology, innovation, and expanded welfare schemes. The initiative focuses on increasing farmers’ income through modern tools such as AgriStack, drones, food processing, and MSP-based procurement systems.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said agriculture is not just a means of livelihood but a core part of culture, tradition, and the state’s economic backbone.
Agriculture Facing Climate and Market Challenges
The Chief Minister highlighted major challenges affecting farming, including:
- Climate change
- Irregular rainfall
- Drought and floods
- Declining soil fertility
- Market volatility
He stressed the need for innovation, scientific methods, and technology adoption to address these issues effectively.

Digital Push: AgriStack and Smart Farming
The state is actively promoting digital transformation in agriculture through the AgriStack initiative, which digitizes farmers’ land, crop, and production data.
Key benefits include:
- One-click access to farm data
- Weather and market price updates on mobile apps
- Faster delivery of government scheme benefits
- Improved transparency and efficiency
The initiative is designed to make farming more data-driven and efficient.
Drone Technology and Women Empowerment in Agriculture
Under central and state initiatives, modern tools like drones are being introduced in farming. Programs such as “Drone Didi” are enabling women to actively participate in modern agricultural practices.
Additionally, Krishi Sakhis are helping farmers adopt:
- Organic farming
- Soil health management
- Advanced cultivation techniques
Innovation and Research at the Core of Agri Growth
The government is promoting agricultural innovation by linking farming with science and research. CM Yadav emphasized expanding the vision of “Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan”.

- Value addition and better market access
Food Processing and Agri-Business Expansion
To increase farmer income, the state is expanding food processing units and strengthening agri-based industries.

Dairy and Livestock Development Push
Madhya Pradesh aims to increase milk production from 9% to 20% under its dairy development programs.
Major steps include:
- Dairy Plus initiative for livestock growth
- Training through Krishi Vigyan Kendras
- Satellite and drone-based crop monitoring
Major Farmer Welfare Schemes and Financial Support
The government highlighted several direct benefit schemes for farmers:
- ₹12,000 annual support under PM Kisan and state schemes (84 lakh farmers)
- ₹40 per quintal bonus on wheat
- ₹4,000 per hectare incentive for paddy
- MSP procurement of moong and urad with ₹600 bonus on urad
- ₹2,106 crore relief for 24 lakh disaster-affected farmers
- ₹1,500 crore soybean MSP payments
- Inclusion of mustard under Bhavantar scheme
- 0% interest crop loans
- Crop insurance coverage for 1.79 crore farmers
- Solar pumps under PM Kusum for 32 lakh farmers
- Free up to 5 HP electricity for SC/ST farmers
- ₹5 electricity connection scheme and 10 lakh new connections annually
Floriculture and ODOP Driving Rural Income
The state is expanding floriculture over 44,000 hectares, boosting exports and rural income.
Under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, seven districts are being promoted for their unique agricultural and local products to strengthen branding and market reach.
