A shocking “wife bashing”’ video has emerged from Madhya Pradesh, in which the culprit is none other than the state’s Director General of Police (Prosecution) Purushottam Sharma. Crossing all limits of civil behavior, the IPS officer is seen beating his wife mercilessly, apparently in his official residence. And the wife’s fault? She had allegedly found her husband in an intimate position with another woman and had demanded an explanation.

The video also shows two other staff members in Sharma’s residence. They make feeble attempts to stop Sharma, but appear afraid to incur the wrath of the enraged officer.

Sharma and his wife have been married for over 30 years.

Incidentally, it was the couple’s son Parth- a Deputy Commissioner in the Income Tax Department- who sent the video to the state Home Minister Mr. Narottam Mishra and other senior officers, requesting them to take strict action against his father.

Soon after the video came into the public domain, the Madhya Pradesh Government swiftly acted on it. According to a statement attributed to the Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chauhan, “The officer has been relieved of his duties. Action will be taken against anyone who holds a responsible position but indulges in illegal activities and taking the law into his hands.’”
